Area Info

When visiting the Alabama Gulf Coast, keep in mind that there is so much more to our area than just clear blue skies, white sandy beaches, and a beautiful emerald coastline. So whether you’re looking for a fun day out or some shopping we can help point you in the right direction.

While you’re on vacation in our wonderful part of the map, we know that you will want to do some shopping, playing, and dining out- so this page is intended to offer a few places that we like so you can have a head start.

Our area really does area has it all, from Outlet Malls and Souvenir Shops to Water Parks and Amusement Parks. If you’re looking for a day at the mall, you should try either the Tanger Outlet Mall in Foley, or even closer, the Pelican Place Shopping Center here in Gulf Shores. With so many stores to choose from you might want to plan this as a day trip! We also know that you might not want all that struggle through crowds of these larger malls so there are also a number of nice souvenir shops all around town with so many cool things to do and see, like Souvenir City and the many Surf Styles throughout Gulf Shores. These smaller shops are always fun to stroll around and pick up a little something to bring home for a reminder of your great time here in Gulf Shores, or to take something back for your loved ones.

If you’re looking for fun and adventure, then you’re coming to the right place! There are numerous attractions all in town. “Waterville USA” is a great waterpark with big slides, wave pools, kids areas, lazy river, go-carts, laser tag, arcade, and much more. It is fun way to beat the heat and is family-friendly for all ages.

Also, just north of the Intracoastal Waterway Bridge is “The Track”. “The Track” is an amazing place to really bring out the kid in all of us with things to do like go-kart racing, bumper boats, the always exciting sky coaster, and not to mention an enormous indoor arcade.

We know you’re on vacation and most of all want to be “bum” so for a chill and relaxed day stroll on to the “Gulf Coast Zoo” and see all the exotic animals “bumming” around in their own carefree way.

If fresh local seafood is what you want than “Clark’s Seafood Market”, “Fresh Market Seafood”, and “Billy’s Seafood” are always our choices. The seafood is straight off the boats and can even be cooked prior to pick-up. Food delivery is also available by a locally owned company called Home Away Groceries. Their website is www.homeawaygroceries.com. They offer fresh food of any kind delivered to your beach home before you arrive- Just another way to make sure your vacation is hassle free.

Great restaurants to try are “The Gulf Shores Steamer” in San Roc Cay Marina, “Mikee’s in Gulf Shores”, “Tacky Jack’s” in Fort Morgan, Orange Beach, and coming soon in Gulf Shores and “Lulu’s at Home Port” -just on the north side of the Intracoastal Waterway and next to “The Track” amusement park. Lulu’s is owned by the sister of the famous musician Jimmy Buffett a local, that has stayed loyal and holds the spirit of Gulf Shores, Fort Morgan, and Orange Beach in all his music- the most recent being “Bama Breeze”.

If Charter Fishing is what you’re looking for call Lee Wilson with Exterminator Charters for inshore. He is a great guide with exciting stories, hot fishing spots, and an easy personality. Also try Zeek’s Landing or San Roc Cay’s Charter Fleet. They provide daily, walk-ons, and even over-night and extended trips. There is always a good time to be had a huge fish to be caught when out in the Gulf of Mexico.

If you’re a Scuba Diver be sure to call “Down Under Dive Shop” in Gulf Shores for all your guided or rental needs. They provide great equipment at reasonable prices, daily dive trips to various sites, including the famous Oriskany Air Craft Carrier and many local sites with a great variety of sea life. Don’t miss this opportunity, it’s a once in a life time experience that you can hold onto for a lifetime.

If you are really trying to get out and explore the Gulf Coast for what it is really worth though, try going down to the “Historic Fort Morgan” Civil War site. Explore the history of our area dating back to as far as the mid-1800s, and after that hop on the ferry and cruise on over to Dauphin Island for a day at the “Gulf Coast Estuarium”and “Fort Gaines”. The Fort Morgan Ferry also provides a fun ride across Mobile Bay and make it is also just a hop, skip, and a jump away from Mobile, AL and the great gambling boats of Biloxi, MS.

We hope this helps you enjoy your time in our area and remember you can always call on us for help or advice. We will do our best to guide you right and share our experiences. We love our connections in our travel spots and would love to be yours here along the Alabama Gulf Coast.
